Liliana Cattaneo
Liliana Cattaneo is Founder and Artistic Director of Xdrop; a California 501(c) 3 Non-Profit Arts Organization since 2003. At the age of 17 she began producing art in unconventional landscapes in her hometown of San Diego. From creating shows in bars to presenting work in coffeeshops and abandoned parking garages, Cattaneo’s art is progressive. She continually explores the world around her through her creative palette with an emphasis on making art an accessible value, not a commodity. In theatres, her work has been presented at California Center for the Arts, Escondido (San Diego), Highways (Los Angeles), University of California (San Diego), Centro Cultural Los Talleres (Mexico City), Dance Mission (San Francisco), Museum of the Living Artist (San Diego), Ivar Theatre (Los Angeles), Lyceum (San Diego), Shotwell Studios (San Francisco), Sushi Performance & Visual Art (San Diego), Ortspace (Tucson), San Diego State University (San Diego), Barnsdall Gallery Theatre(Los Angeles) and CounterPULSE (San Francisco) among others.
Xdrop was the first invited company from the United States to be presented in two new theatres in Mexico; La Alborada (Tijuana)& Centro Estatal de las Artes (Mexicali). Coronado School of the Arts has also commissioned Cattaneo for her repertoire. In 1999, Cattaneo garnered a Tommy Award for “Emerging Choreographer” from the San Diego Dance Alliance. Among many personal interviews, she has shown her work live and taped for media coverage in both the U.S. and in Mexico. Company residencies include The Academy of Performing Arts in San Diego.
