The Impact

The impact carried the weight of water
Held her closely
Held her up for starters
Looking up at those two
Those two always came through
San Francisco is a city in a cloud
Dense fog
Dripping light
Storms thundering my brain
No it’s not an earthquake
Just the next L train (more…)

Universal Fight

Some of the best revolutionaries
Were ordinary people
Like you and me
Some of the movements
Too great to have been lost in history
Are expanding in their belief
That we have no borders
No rules
No personal gain
No criminals
No deception
No one to hurt
No one to blame (more…)

So Human An Animal

So precious an animal
To have legs like me
They ache just like me
So simple an animal can be
Do you see a path where there is
No finishing line?
To know what I am capable of
Is to know what I have consciously done
The oh so ugly things
From which I tried to run
But couldn’t keep hiding from
If you break out of the cage
You’re still following it
The road is a freedom
For all the music to come with
And you can’t replace something
That doesn’t exist
This isn’t a democracy
Just humans dancing in their own shit (more…)

The Manic Influence

She wore all the swords
Like a plate of armor
To her breast
She was a brave woman
Among her different personalities
Among her distant friends
She was my favorite manic influence
What would Jesus do?
So I asked you
Thought we could laugh once more
Before we cried
That day I met you in the backyard
Like it was the first time (more…)

Stone Manor

I can feel you stare
Like I can feel you think
Deeper I breathe you crawl inside
Down my throat and between my thighs
I have no expectation about this
I’m a warrior of a lost cause in
A burning house of pain (more…)

Uneducated Nation

Took a turn one day for the worst part of you
That I could find
Told you this was where it was at
You’re more you the more you drink
I’m a little less who you new before
Yesterday’s sunset is still setting in my mind
If we’re not where we want to be
We’re nobody not to try (more…)

Sorry for all the Fear

A timing slip
A gap of slight degree
Skin pulls when I reach
Tears off the rubber, coiling
Too wide to grasp
Too pure to have
Is not so kind to the reaching hand (more…)

Absence

Thought I’d call
Thought you’d call
The dead shall grow
For we walk on them
We tip
We tow so silently
Like a rhythm rehearsed
To be played incessantly
No one is alone (more…)

The Canyon

Space fills my landscape
To watch you leave me
With the stars
As you get smaller
In the distance
In the dark
Tunneled in the spin
They’re pulling out the hair of girls
Who would never win
This is the trouble I’m in (more…)

Actors in a Parallel

Balancing desire with
One hand over her heart
That I could tell her things
And pledge to never part
Would you push if they were coming?
To the mirror of this divide
We are walking the sands
In just a moment
Of a long waiting line
No glue gun could be as fine
Or travel the way you fell
When you felt field lengths behind (more…)
