Lost & Found

The Breathing Room

We are melting
She said “I can’t see it”
The fan is sifting our yellow glow
Another dressing room
Another mirror
To look into
Another city
With similar blues
Dancing our dying days
To the beat of another drum

Dream Inside a Dream

No sound
Could crack this barrier
I never let him into my world
Somewhere between the divided
Segments of the corporate ladder
I gave up on him
An artist weeps
In her tea
As the dark in the black

we read up
we tune in
and then tune out
and resume eating our dinners
the truth hurts
but not enough
to keep us up at night
we’re still able to shut our eyes
and fall asleep
with the resources
(of course)
we sleep easy
without the nightmares
without fear
without doing anything
numbing ourselves
from the truth
