The younger girls seem to be enjoying follow the leader. It’s a simple
structure and gives them freedom to play. The more we play the more
direction they will take from me in respect to levels, speed, intention,
etc. I had a really good break through with the older girls this week. They had some ‘choreography’ (aka- booty dancing with arm movements they learned from a music video) which they taught me. I think purely for the joy of watching me make a fool out of myself. It was to this particular horrible reggaeton song that of course remained on repeat for hours. A couple days later, the song came on again and happily we all did the dance together. They allowed me to give them a formation, but were lost when I tried to create a roll-off. It was lots of fun and their smiles were priceless. It was a wonderful opportunity to appreciate the enjoyment of dance and movement on their terms.
