Sorry for all the Fear

A timing slip
A gap of slight degree
Skin pulls when I reach
Tears off the rubber, coiling
Too wide to grasp
Too pure to have
Is not so kind to the reaching hand (more…)

Thought I’d call
Thought you’d call
The dead shall grow
For we walk on them
We tip
We tow so silently
Like a rhythm rehearsed
To be played incessantly
No one is alone (more…)

The Canyon

Space fills my landscape
To watch you leave me
With the stars
As you get smaller
In the distance
In the dark
Tunneled in the spin
They’re pulling out the hair of girls
Who would never win
This is the trouble I’m in (more…)

On their terms…

The younger girls seem to be enjoying follow the leader. It’s a simple
structure and gives them freedom to play. The more we play the more
direction they will take from me in respect to levels, speed, intention,
etc. I had a really good break through with the older girls this week. They had some ‘choreography’ (aka- booty dancing with arm movements they learned from a music video) which they taught me. (more…)

Actors in a Parallel

Balancing desire with
One hand over her heart
That I could tell her things
And pledge to never part
Would you push if they were coming?
To the mirror of this divide
We are walking the sands
In just a moment
Of a long waiting line
No glue gun could be as fine
Or travel the way you fell
When you felt field lengths behind (more…)

It was a puddle
It was a puddle
Rocks piled high the further I went
Longer I pass the level descends
Slipping through the hole until it ends
In your eyes I see something
But it’s clouded with the black
Of the dark bouncing ball
That has me forgetting
And my all
Be still the haunting
Be still my heart (more…)

Update from Guatemala

You´ll never know what you´re actually getting into until it´s happening… We´ve spent a month volunteering here at Casa Guatemala and it has already been an experience that could never be matched. The actual orphanage consists of a school (14 classrooms), a boys dorm, a girls dorm, a health clinic (with no doctor), a common eating area (room for 100), an office, two volunteer quarters and an entire farm (pigs, cows, chickens, and a really old horse, Norman).
there is a pond, a playground and a really fun second story balcony to jump off into the dirty river.

Casa is only accessible by boat and is about a 25 min boat ride to the closest town. The setting is beautiful. We´re in the middle of nowhere and there is jungle filling the landscape. There is a small village we can walk to with nothing but a few huts, a church and a store that sells powdered milk, eggs and the occasional beer! Other than that, it´s the kids, the mosquitos, the full-time employees, and the volunteers. (more…)

The days bounce…

The days bounce between seemingly impossible to euphoric. The girls are starting to trust me a bit more and relying on me for things, which is an amazing feeling for me. My hope is that as their trust and interest in me grows, they will also be interested in learning something new. Today I was able to hold the attention of the younger girls for almost an entire twenty minutes. We played follow the leader, taking turns as the leader. They had fun making up different movements and being silly until Nancy (one of the older, very controling girls) came in and made fun of them. Suddenly it was mahem once again. It’s amazing to me how much rage and beauty each girl contains. They go from normal, playing children to destructive monsters within seconds.
