The closer they came
They cornered me to a smaller version
Of a heavier scene
And she can’t hear a thing
Where all the noise goes
The roulette is just deafening
She could be hanging there graciously
Declined
Reaching for a feather floating down
Past her artistry
Onto a bird
Who hasn’t quite yet died
The whole world thinks
There needs another act
So she kept on dancing

From which a light
Magnifies the sun
She wanted to see
How far they would run
The lines are blurred
By who had the last word
Chalk outlines the body
Of the page that cannot turn
In the lining of men
There is no equal
Only one way to travel through

Her legs are still freezing
